Art & Spirituality Mentorship
EXPLORE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF SPIRITUALITY
IN YOUR CREATIVE PRACTICE
Does any of this sound familiar?
-
"I keep buying all these art supplies and telling myself I'm gonna start making art, but I just don't know where to begin."
-
"Whenever I try to make some spiritual art, it always ends up looking cheesy or too sweet."
-
"I mean, I consider myself an artist, but it just doesn't feel quite right because of how people think about art in my church."
If so, you've come to the right place.
Hi, I'm Pavlína Marie, aka Creative Nun. I help artists and creative people navigate their spiritual lives to expand their creative journeys and achieve spiritual and professional growth.
After spending the last 18 years working on understanding my artistic life as a vocation, culminating in a PhD in fine art and theology, I created an original method of theological reflection based on art practice. When you create, you get to know yourself better, understand your faith and beliefs, and become more aware of how you make decisions and what triggers you.
Imagine:
-
You sit down and follow simple steps to visualise your feelings, emotions, and spiritual experiences that you quickly turn into sketches for artwork.
-
Making spiritual art becomes a relaxing and joyful routine that helps you process and develop complex ideas and thoughts.
-
Your art practice is your sacred space for personal prayer and meditation, your safe space where you feel fully accepted by yourself and the one who gifted you with artistic talent.
I'm here to help you feel in the right place. Feeling your creativity "at home" makes you feel good, motivated and energised. When you feel good, motivated and energised, you can see the pathway the Creator offers YOU – it is your vocation that needs to flourish and grow for your own benefit and for those around you, whether it's your family, friends, congregation, or community.

Why Mentorship?
After finishing art training, I felt confident in my artistic abilities but found it challenging to integrate my technical skills with my spiritual life. As a practising Christian, I was deeply interested in my spiritual journey, yet it often felt like I was living two separate lives—one as an artist and one as a believer.
I struggled to find ways to merge these aspects of my identity and needed someone to guide me and walk alongside me on this journey. Sometimes, it's not about lacking skills or passion but about needing a starting point and a companion to help blend these elements together.
Through this mentorship programme, I offer the support I once needed, helping others to navigate and harmonise their creative and spiritual paths. Whether you're looking to deepen your faith through art or explore your spirituality without specific religious affiliation, this programme is designed to provide guidance and encouragement to start and continue your journey.

My Journey
I have always been passionate about art, which led me to pursue a degree in textile design and later a Master's in Art History and Art Theory, where I delved deeper into understanding and appreciating various art forms.
My journey didn't stop there. I felt a strong calling to connect my artistic skills with spirituality, which led me to earn a full theological degree in Christian Theology and Education. This allowed me to understand the profound aspects of spirituality within an educational setting.
Combining these interests, I pursued a PhD in Fine Art and Theology. My research, titled "Art as a Living Theology: Exploring Artists' Vocation," explores how creativity is a form of participation in divine creation. This blend of fine art and theology is at the heart of what I offer in my mentorship programme.
With nine years of experience as an art and religious teacher and mentor at a high school and additional experience teaching art privately to individuals and groups, I have developed the skills and knowledge necessary to coach and navigate one's creative and spiritual journeys. Only in 2024 have I worked with over 100 creative individuals, artists, mindfulness seekers, ministers and ordinands in various Christian denominations, further enriching my ability to guide others in their spiritual and creative endeavours.
This mix of practical experience and deep theoretical knowledge allows me to provide a supportive and insightful mentorship experience. Whether your journey is within Christianity or broader spirituality, I'm here to help you navigate and integrate your artistry with your spiritual life.
I look forward to walking this path with you and helping you explore the beautiful intersection of art and spirituality.

Collaboration at the Core
At the heart of my mentorship programme is the belief that true growth and transformation come from a collaborative effort. This isn't just a traditional paid programme where one delivers information and the other passively receives it. Instead, it's a partnership where both mentor and mentee actively engage, share, and learn from each other for the benefit of the mentee. It's crucial that both parties feel they are a good fit for this journey together, maintaining the freedom to decide if and how they want to continue the collaborative work.
This mentorship touches on deeply personal and sensitive topics such as spirituality and identity. These are areas that require a high degree of openness, trust, and mutual respect. Therefore, it’s important to approach this work with a sense of openness and flexibility, allowing for an environment where people can freely express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. This ensures that the journey is meaningful and supportive, providing a safe space for genuine exploration and growth.
Given the specific and sensitive nature of this relationship, both the mentor and the mentee retain the flexibility to end the collaboration if they feel it is no longer beneficial. This open-ended approach ensures that the partnership remains productive and positive for both parties. Additionally, confidentiality is a cornerstone of this mentorship. The mentor commits to not sharing any details from the sessions with others, ensuring a secure and private space for all discussions.
